During November and December 2018, CNVP Kosovo continued to support the National Association of Private Forestry Owner (NAPFO) to produce and supply wood biomass for innovative heating systems in primary schools in Drelaj (Peja), Dobratin (Podujeve) and Blinaje (Lipjan). These three projects include the use of a chipping machine.

20 participants have been trained on biomass collection, chipping and storage. About 100 m3 of biomass produced during this activity was transported and stored for the heating systems to be used during the current winter.

Wood chip biomass is produced through silvicultural activities that cover cleaning and thinning of forests in Blinaja Park. Managed by the Kosovo Forestry Agency (KFA), the use of wood waste for chip production for heating has helped KFA staff to improve the maintenance of pastures and open areas, as well as create better conditions for wildlife management in Blinaja.

These activities were supported by CNVP Kosovo under the framework of the Sida-funded project Strengthening Sustainable Private and Decentralized Forests.
