Capacity development on forest management planning, monitoring and silviculture

CNVP Kosovo has organized a second field training on forest inventory, drafting of forest management plans, and the use of tools and methodology on data collection. 

Having into consideration safety measures due to the pandemic situation, the training was organized in the field, with the group of forestry engineers and technicians from the Kosovo Forestry Agency (KFA) regional office in Gjilan, Associations of Private Forest Owners and Municipalities. 

Participants had the opportunity to learn how the long term management plan is drafted, joint forest management practices, drafting of the annual plan, and including operational plan. Practically was demonstrated how to handle with the modern tools for forest measurement and inventory, data processing, management unit bordering, and compartment division criteria. 

The importance of silvicultural activities on sustainable management planning was discussed, as well as stand structure, tree and crown position within the stand, thinning methods, and criteria for different forest types. 

This activity was supported by the Embassy of Sweden in the Prishtina- the funded project being implemented by CNVP Kosovo - Strengthening Sustainable Private and Decentralized Forestry.
