Shqipe Shala from Etniku beekeeping has managed to increase the number of beehives and increase honey production, thanks to support of the project “Sustainable Future for Shar/ Korab-Koritnik: Implementation of model projects to support sustainable development and nature conservation in the transboundary Shar/ Korab-Koritnik region along the Balkan Green Belt”, funded by the German Federal Environmental Foundation (Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt DBU) and Aage V.Jensen Charity Foundation.

The new technology that is now being used by Etniku beekeeping has simplified the production process and improved the quality of honey. This local business in the area of Sharr is one of the interventions that the project is doing to help local people to build themselves a sustainable future for Shar/ Korab-Koritnik.

The CNVP Kosovo project team conducted a monitoring visit in the Sharr Mountains National Park to discuss with project beneficiary’s implementation of projects for tourism, livestock, cultivation of MAPs  and to plan activities for upcoming weeks and months.

The project started in April 2021 and will run for 30 months, with the goal to contribute to a sustainable regional development, combined with the reduction of threats to biodiversity in the Shar/ Korab-Koritnik region with the local population as main driver. It is implemented by EuroNatur, CNVP Kosovo and the partner organizations from region, Protection and Preservation of Natural Environment in Albania (PPNEA) and Macedonian Ecological Society (MES).
