On 22nd/ 23rd of March, in Berovo, CNVP- MOVING project and members of the rural tourism value chain from Maleshevski region discussed potential scenarios and measures for development of the region. On previous workshops the groups identified two key variables: climate change and social- economic changes, and five long term forces that affect the rural tourism value chain: tourism offer, local- traditional production of fruits, vegetables dairy products, woods as an asset, access to finance. After analyzing 4 different potential situations where climate change conditions and socio- economic changes are moderate, declining or both very favorable, the group came up with the fifth. The realistic where both variables are not in favorable condition and the region is losing it’s natural assets, attractiveness and population. This situation provoked serious discussion on measures for mitigation and responding to the negative effects of both key variables, policies and subventions for green and eco-friendly solutions, support for local economies and establishing strong Maleshevski brand that will protect and keep the quality of the local offer.

CNVP North Macedonia is implementing the MOVING Horizon 2020 project with a consortium of 23 partner organizations across Europe (research centers and institutes, industry representatives, rural developers, and innovation agents). Activities in North Macedonia are focused on the Maleshevija region, eastern part of the country.
